The product of that order was none other than Sandalphon. For most of his early life, Sandalphon remained a caged bird, only knowing whatever Lucifer told him of, while also being experimented on by Lucilius' fellow researchers, the Astrals. The only saving grace of this life was that once in a blue moon, Lucifer would arrive to Sandalphon's gilded cage, a garden, and spend time with him. One of these meetings brought coffee to Sandalphon's knowledge, as Lucifer was the first to introduce him, and to prepare him a cup. Then, his world came crashing down. Lucilius, in no uncertain terms, made it clear that Sandalphon was a spare, and he would be disposed of when time called for it. Sandalphon may have not heard it directly, as he was merely eavesdropping, but that, coupled with Lucifer's silence, caused Sandalphon's soul to shatter. Couple that with Lucifer's infrequent visits, and Belial feeding into his despair, sent him into a rage so powerful that he wanted nothing more than to destroy everything Lucifer cared about, the Sky Realm. He joined a failed rebellion, and was sent to Pandemonium to live out eternal punishment. What Makes the Sky Blue That was supposed to be the case, until Sandalphon found a way to escape two thousand years later. The escape allowed Sandalphon to start his rampage, starting by finding the elemental Primarchs, and tearing their wings away from them and taking their powers for his own. He managed to get close to his goal of destroying the Sky Realm, but was stopped by the Grandcypher crew. Sandalphon asked for a truce, seemingly remorseful, but as soon as the Captain falls for it, he pushes them off a cliff while laughing manaically. Lucifer's appearance, however, ruins that, as he was able to save the Captain and prevents his plans from coming into fruition. After a talk with Lucifer that only served to allow Sandalphon to throw his true feelings at Lucifer, he was sealed away with nothing but an apology from Lucifer. What Makes the Sky Blue II: Paradise Lost Some time later, Sandalphon is seen tending to some coffee trees in the prison that Lucifer crafted for him, content on living out his life in atonement by accepting the punishment the Supreme Primarch gave him. He chooses not to challenge it as he knows that Lucifer knows best, and that he should just accept his judgement. However, Lyria, after arriving in his prison with the Captain, challenges his idea of atonement, as he wasn't actively trying to become a better person, simply accepting fate for what it was. This constant push for him to try and be better allowed Sandalphon to break out of the prison, returning to the Sky Realm with a physical form. He's the first to awaken, and the first to sense Lucifer's peril. Despite the difficulty of having a physical form, he manages to find Lucifer... or what's left of him. As he cradles Lucifer's head and wonders how it could have happened, Lucifer's spirit arrives to give Sandalphon his last requests. While Lucifer himself couldn't have known that he was speaking to Sandalphon, he asks that Lucilius' legacy be stopped, and to protect the skies: with that request, he says that the title and wings of the Supreme Primarch were to go to Sandalphon. This makes Sandalphon see red, as he thinks that's the only thing Lucifer ever cared about, and that he would destroy the world he so cared about. Lucifer's next words throw him for a loop: that all he wanted was to share one last cup of coffee with Sandalphon. That alone makes Sandalphonc cry as he questions everything, grieving the loss of his friend. As soon as he's given the wings, Sandalphon knows that Lucifer is gone, and he laments the fact that the wings are too white for him to stand. The Captain, Lyria and Vyrn are the first to see him like this, but Lucilius' legacy does not give the luxury of time. This legacy was the Primal Beast Avatar, forged by the cores of vast amounts of primal beasts, and it only wanted to destroy, nothing more. Before Sandalphon can get to Avatar, the "fallen angel" Belial stands in his way. He manages to win the fight, but at the cost of losing most of the Supreme Primarch's power, causing him to start freefalling. He's caught by the Grandcypher, and his next goal of winning against Avatar required the help of the Captain and Lyria. With their help, he manages to save the skies for the time being. What Makes the Sky Blue III: 000 Lucilius is revived after being killed by Lucifer thousands of years ago by Belial, using Lucifer's body as a replacement. Their newest plan was to sink Pandemonuim into the Crimson Horizon, the explosion meant to bring about ruin to the Sky Realm. Sandalphon once again asks the Grandcypher's crew to help end everything once and for all, and with a moment of preperation, they set off to the Crimson Horizon to end it all. They find themselves fighting droves of fallen angels, and when the elemental Primarchs look to Sandalphon for guidance, he finds himself hesitant to do so. They tell him that while they may have doubt, he is Supreme Primarch now, and they are to listen to him. Micheal even clears this doubt from him, saying that she is now his adjuntant, and she is to pass on Lucifer's concerns about the Sky Realm to him, as well as assisting him in whatever he needs done. He takes these words into consideration, but his attention is soon drawn to Belial and the battle that ensues. Despite having the fighting capability, Sandalphon is unable to deal damage, and that's when even more doubt sets in. It almost eats him alive, until Micheal intervenes, saying that while Lucifer was irreplacable, Sandalphon is as well, and dying here would be meaningless, and his goal should be forging his own future, not just fulfilling his promise to Lucifer. In order to continue the fight, the elemental Primarchs willingly give Sandalphon their wings, but Belial starts to shake Sandalphon's resolve again by telling him how Lucifer died. Before he could fall into despair, however, the Captain was the one to shake him out of the spiral, and with a word of thanks to the Captain, he was able to defeat Belial. However, it was too late, as Lucilius was already headed to the divine tower, Entemenanki, as the plan to destroy the sky through the Crimson Horizon failed. They find him with a bloody body at his feet, and another battle ensues. This time, however, Sandalphon and the entire crew were at Lucilius' mercy, as they stood no chance against him. While buying time, Sandalphon asks the Grandcypher crew to retreat and to leave him behind. Lyria and Vyrn recognize this as a suicide plan, and vehemently deny even doing such a thing. Vyrn launches himself into Lucilius, explaining while batting away at Lucilius' chest that despite everything wrong he's done, Sandalphon was someone he grew to care for. Sandalphon wonders why the crew would concern themselves over him, soon realizing that he blinded himself to their emotions. This causes him to realize that he wants to do better for himself, and not for the sake of others. The resolve is enough for Lyria's plume to glow, awakening the true power of the Supreme Primarch's wings, and gives Sandalphon the edge he needed to win. Despite that, Sandalphon still asks the Grandcypher crew for help, to which they wholeheartedly agree to. They win the battle, but before long, the tower starts getting sucked into a void. The crew manages to get to safety, but not before Lyria is blown off the ship. Sandalphon chases after her, and with the last of his powers, she is sent to safety while he disappears. Sandalphon soon awakens in the garden of old, seeing Lucifer pouring out cups of coffee for the both of them. The two finally get their closure: Sandalphon expresses remorse for his actions, but does not ask for forgiveness, while Lucifer apologizes for placing such a burden on his shoulders. Lucifer even adds that "even should the world deny you forgiveness, even should people throughout time look upon you with hatred, you are and always shall be my solace", giving Sandalphon the comfort he always needed, saying that "you will always be my guiding light". He's tempted to stay, but Lyria and Vyrn's cries are more than enough to get him to rethink his choice, and wants to head back. With a promise of seeing each other once more, Sandalphon wakes up. He's greeted by the Captain, Lyria, and Vyrn, all on the Nightcypher, ready to pick him up and taken back home. Sometime later, Lyria takes Sandalphon's passing thought of opening a cafe and runs with it, making him open up a cafe aboard the Grandcypher. PersonalitySandalphon could be told that he has a stick up his ass, and he would deny it. He's very goal oriented, not willing to rest until he's got what he wants to do done. It might take him days, it might take him a few hours, but he will get it done. It comes off as rude, almost callous of him, but that's what he is. Due to this more serious nature, Vyrn takes pleasure in calling him "Grumplephon." It's only met with remarks of getting serious. Sandalphon tends to dislike people with more carefree attitudes, as they only get under his skin at times. But there are also times where he will actively push other's buttons, grinning slyly as he does. Those pokes can sound very insulting, but Sandalphon rarely means them if anything. Lucio's mere existence, however, always gets Sandalphon riled up. Some might even call Sandalphon a natural born leader, given how he always has a plan for everything. He's also able to convince people to follow orders, even if they sound insane from a normal person's standpoint. He does have the influence of the title of Supreme Primarch, but that doesn't negate the fact that he knows how to lead people at any given chance. The time he's spent on the Grandcypher loosened him up, to the point that he knows how to at least have a civil conversation with anyone. When he was younger, the only interaction he ever had was conversations with Lucifer, so when he was forced to join social events, he tried his best to adapt the best he could. Nowadays he finds himself laughing happily more often than not, something that he thought impossible ever since the rebellion. Sandalphon, at his core, is someone who lost their innocence and wants nothing more to get it back, but can’t no matter how hard he tries. He’s always trying to atone for his actions of his past, wanting to do right by Lucifer and the faith he put into him. He knows he can’t ever retrieve that innocence, however he will try his damnedest to make sure that at least he made someone proud. He's trying his best!
