Character: Sandalphon
Canon: Granblue Fantasy
Canon point: Post the Maydays
OU or AU?: Ryslig CRAU
Age: 2000+
Species: Primal, which is Granblue Fantasy’s version of a demigod.
AU clarification: After spending 8 months in Ryslig, Sandalphon’s gotten an even more jaded view on humanity thanks to the the residents of Ryslig. He’s quick to use violence whenever necessary, not wanting to get close to anyone, save the very few he’s befriended. He’s essentially become a hermit by choice, simply due to refusing to believe humanity, even under the guise of monsterism, could become as violent as they are there. Even if he himself had to partake in the more gruesome fact of… eating, he doesn’t particularly hold that place in high regard. His appearance changed drastically, though. He’s a slime, and he doesn’t particularly find it appealing. He wants out.

Disposition: Goal-oriented: He’s always focused on what he wants done, and if he needs to do it himself, he will. From getting so close to destroying his own world out of hatred to almost saving it, he’s always had the self-motivation to push forward and make sure he finishes what he needs to have done. Once he has a goal in mind, he thinks everything through, not wanting to be caught off guard, but will also act upon his plans the moment he has them set in stone.
Curious: It doesn’t, nor will it ever show in his day-to-day demeanor, but Sandalphon is curious of the world. He’s been imprisoned, both unknowingly and unwillingly for most of his life, and because of that, has moments of childlike wonder at whatever new thing humans have come up with, and will try to find out how said thing works all by himself. If he trusts someone enough, it’s then when he’ll actively ask questions, but to them and them alone.
Gentle: This aspect of him has been crushed over and over again through his experiences of being imprisoned and thinking he was always lesser than everyone around him, but Sandalphon truly is a caring person, wanting only the best for those who he lets into his heart. Even when he had himself convinced that he hated Lucifer, all he wanted was for Lucifer to understand how much emotional turmoil he was in, and how much his impassiveness has hurt him. Eventually they came to this understanding, but it still took a very long time for it to happen. Because of that span of time, it’s very difficult to get through to him that a person cares, but once he understands, Sandalphon becomes a lifelong friend.
Tenacity: He’s stubborn to a fault, determined to make everything work in his favor no matter what. Sure, it’s usually in battle, when he pushes himself to his absolute limit in order to get stuff done, but it shows even in the smallest things, such as remaking coffee over and over again until he achieves the perfect balance. (In his defense, try making a coffee in a moving vehicle.) It works in his favor, due to being driven to reach his goals.
Blunt: He will speak with literally no filter, which sometimes makes him look like an asshole, but he does this in order to make sure he’s not misunderstood. He can be also read as a straight man in comedic situations. He doesn’t shy away from the fact that he does indeed sound harsh, but most of the time he does mean well.
Suitability: Sandalphon, for the most part, is a curious character, despite his more serious nature. He wants to know how the world works, down to the very technology that helps people live in it. Noctium’s advancements in technology will have him exploring everything while trying to act aloof as possible, only really letting his guard down when he trusts someone. Bodily transformations is nothing new to him, given that he is, in fact, a slime, but will definitely appreciate the shifts into dragon or manticore territory. Less slime, the better.
Despite living in Ryslig for a time, he still has this curiosity, yet it is subdued and hidden away from the world because of the fear it might be exploited, or even worse, manipulated. He will find Synchrony rather difficult, as he’s still jaded from what he witnessed in Ryslig before arriving in Noctium. He won’t even like it at first, but given he’s lost too much in his life, Sandalphon is willing to give close relationships a second chance, and that exploration of second chances is what I want to focus on during his stay. He’s been given a ‘second chance’ to prove he’s not a monster, to prove he’s still a kindhearted being, and he wants to take it back. The only issue is that he needs someone to pull him out of his own head.
Condition upon arrival: He will be a slime, but otherwise in perfect health. He will have to adjust to eating normal food once more though. Sandalphon will be abrasive at first, but he will be cordial to most people and NPCs, especially if it means getting information about anything he could get his hands on.
Abilities:
Flight: With a whopping 12 wings at his disposal, he can fly with 2, 6, and even all 12. But he’s normal, and uses only 2 on the daily.
Light magic: By nature, Sandalphon can use light magic, and his most common spell is to summon 2 to 4 large purple swords.
Ain Soph Aur: A beam spam charge attack (GBF’s terms for finishers).
Paradise Lost: Another beam spam charge attack.
Bell of War: A buff that only affects him, which will boost his damage output depending on how many times the enemy has taken an Ain Soph Aur to the face. (Can only buff himself twice.)
Eden’s Exile: Lets Sandalphon use his Ecliptica skill twice in a row. Only available to use once he uses Paradise Lost, and is consumed upon Ecliptica’s activation.
Ecliptica: A sword strike that heals equivalent to half of whatever damage he dishes out.
Alone in Heaven: A skill that essentially makes Sandalphon a self-sustaining tank if used in tandem with Ecliptica. He pushes his body to its limits, but also makes himself susceptible to drawing all enemy attention towards him.
The Power of One: A skill that boosts his allies’ damage capabilities.
Defiance: A passive skill that lets him remove one debuff from himself. (Say he was poisoned—he could get rid of the toxin given some time.) Can also heal himself to an extent.
The Promise: A passive skill that lets him dodge one lethal attack per battle.
Nerfs: I wouldn’t mind his skills being nerfed to being used twice a day! His wings are where I’m iffy on, but other than that, I leave it to mod discretion.
Inventory: A simple sword is the only thing he’ll be bringing!
Gembond: Amethyst
Gem Location: On his back, right between his shoulder blades.
