Background:
Samuel Alize had a simple life. He was born into a family who worshipped the Night god, and grew up without much going on in his life. However, it was not all bliss, as his father died at the hands of a monster not long after he was born, so he grew up fatherless. This didn't bother him at all, given the stubborn nature of his mother. Due to the monster threat that was prevalent throughout Ryslig, however, his mother taught him how to fight and defend himself if need be-- being the child of a monster hunter had its benefits. Due to his standoffish nature, Samuel became somewhat of a loner despite his kind heart, and this paid off as he grew.
In high school, he was introduced to the underbelly of Bavan, and despite all the warnings from his mother, he chose to become involved. That is, until he met his first friend, at the ripe age of 21. Despite everything in him telling him to not get close due to his ties with organized crime, his friend still managed to worm his way into his heart. He also finds the 8 year old Yuzu Boyle around this time, taking her in when he realizes that she was the only survivor of a horrible monster attack. He finds himself ready to give up crime... until his friend was also murdered by a monster.

Samuel, in his grief, takes up his friend's café to honor his memory. He knew nothing about coffee and yet was desperately looking for a way to keep him alive, and this was his answer. It was a bumpy road, from learning how to parent to running a business, but Samuel is trying.
He's trying his absolute damnedest. And he thinks he's doing alright.
