Action, backdated to a couple days after leaving Cherrygrove!

After being rather abruptly roped into traveling with Sandalphon (which Shrike still isn't entirely sure how that happened) so far, the journey's been relatively uneventful. That is, beyond the random wild Pokémon encounters. And the occasional challenge from a passing trainer. And those weird, inexplicable, annoying ledges that even Shrike, having lived in the mountains for the past three years, couldn't readily climb up.

Well, it's been relatively uneventful according to this world's weird standards, at least.

That said, even uneventful journeys are tiring, especially when you're traveling on foot, so as evening drags on Shrike's getting ready to settle down for the night. Which mostly means unpacking his sleeping bag and getting ready to crawl into it... while still keeping his cloak loosely draped about to keep his head and face covered. What a weird kid.

( while Sandalphon viewed this day as just another Saturday, Corrin had spent weeks - months, even - anticipating this occasion, the excitement of which going as far back as his own birthday in June. Sandalphon went above and beyond to celebrate his special day, how can he not provide the same treatment to his beloved partner?

although unlike Corrin, Sandalphon wasn't such a party-goer. the extroverted dragon thrived in an environment that saw many friends with a bustling atmosphere, but not the angel. not that Corrin minded, really - he would rather celebrate this day in a way that makes his partner feel the most comfortable. if low-key is what he wants, low-key is what he'll get.

the angel will find himself being awoken with lots of kisses, while the two of them enjoy a lazy morning in bed together. Corrin only wishes he could make a good cup of coffee, but he'll leave that to the birthday boy. he did get the food part sorted, though: a stack of pancakes, made with coffee grinds mixed in the batter! he found the recipe online and sought some help from Gabriel in creating the most perfect breakfast for Sandalphon. the little Milcery taste tested the pancakes with him until they were perfect. he appears back in the room with a tray, flowers and sets it down while their pokémon drown him in kisses and licks. )

I hope you like this! We worked really hard on it for you. ( and once Sandalphon finishes eating and has a coffee ... he'll be able to give him his actual gift. )

I'm going to clean up the mess in the kitchen, but when you're done and have had your coffee, I have something to give you. ( and with that, he slips out into the kitchen to clean up. )

Honestly, Shrike's been thinking about this for a while. He's been traveling with Sandalphon for some time now, after all, and has certainly come to trust him. So, it would only make sense to tell him... Perhaps all he'd needed was a little push, of sorts, which certain recent events had ended up providing. Which is why one day, when the two of them are alone at the house, Shrike approaches his self-appointing guardian.
